GENERAL HOUSING INFORMATION

Current Residence

Specify your current residence in the list below:

Move-in Date

Your contract start date will depend on when the apartment spaces become available. Complete the information below about your move-in date. The more flexible you are, the better your chance of assignment, but do NOT enter a date on which you would not be willing to move or at least begin paying rent.

Please note, however, that if you are currently living in on-campus housing you may not list a move-out date more than two days before the end of your current contract. If you are living in an academic-year-only residence, your contract end date is June 16, so you may not list a move-in date earlier than June 14. If you are living in any other on-campus residence and have not filed a Termination of Occupancy form indicating you will move out at the end of spring quarter, your contract end date is August 17, so you may not list a move-in date earlier than August 15.

In general, we look primarily at the "first date" and "last date" that you are willing to move. The "preferred move-in date" is used only if we have more than one space available at the complex to which you are being assigned at the point in time when we are making your assignment.

Enter all dates in the format MM/DD/YYYY, for example, 06/14/2008. You must enter the full four-digit year.

First Date That You are Willing to Move In
Last Date That You are Willing to Move In
  Preferred Move-in Date

Move-Out Date

Indicate below whether or not you expect to move out of housing for an allowable reason (i.e. graduating, taking leave of absence, not enrolled summer) before the end of your contract next Summer 2009. This information is not binding. Once your plans are definite, you must still file a termination of occupancy form on the Community Housing web site by the applicable deadline in the Stanford University Off-Campus Residence Agreement to give formal notice of termination of occupancy.

Do you expect to move out of your apartment before the end of your contract next Summer 2009?
Yes    No

If yes, specify at the end of which term you expect to move out:
End of Autumn     End of Winter      End of Spring

ROOMMATE INFORMATION

All students should complete this information, even those applying in groups.

Renewing Roommate

Are you seeking to be the roommate of a student who is already assigned by Stanford to Oak Creek or Stanford West and who is renewing his or her same apartment contract?
Yes    No

If yes, please enter that student's name in the "Additional Information" section at the end of this application. Do not list that student under Group Members. Also, tell us if you only want to be assigned housing if you can be that student's roommate, or if you want to be considered for other spaces as well. Please remember that you can only be assigned with your friend if the vacancy in his or her apartment is still available at the time you are offered a housing assignment. We cannot hold the space for you.

Smoking Smoking is permitted in apartments only by agreement of the roommates. If roommates cannot agree, there is no smoking in the apartment. While we cannot assure you that you will be matched with a smoker/non-smoker, we will try to do so.

Do you smoke?
Yes
No
No, but I do not mind living with someone who does smoke

Roommate
Preference
Information
If assigned, do you authorize Community Housing to release the roommate preference information that you submitted in the Lottery or Waiting List and/or your contact information to other students?
Yes    No

GROUP INFORMATION

If you are applying as a member of a group, complete the information below. You may maintain your group from the Lottery or Waiting List, or create a new group. You are all given the pool and application number of the group member with the worst position. Read the Questions and Answers section on group policy for specific information.

We will attempt to assign group members together in the same apartment as long as all group members have listed the same apartment preferences and same range of moving dates. If not enough spaces are available in the same apartment to accommodate your group in any apartment preference you listed, we will defer assigning your group. If you would prefer that we split your group rather than defer assigning your group, you may note that in the Additional Information section near the end of the application. If you are in a four-person group, we will attempt to assign you to two apartments in the same complex following the above procedure. Please note that if your group members list different apartment preferences or a different range of moving dates, you may be assigned to different apartments.

Group Members

Group Name
Please establish a common group name so that we may easily identify all members of your group. If you were all members of the same group in the Lottery or Waiting List, enter that group name here. If you are creating a new group, enter your new group name. If you have forgotten your Lottery/Waiting List group name, you can create a new group name, but please make sure that each person enters the same group name.

Group Password In case two different groups coincidentally choose the same group name, please also establish a group password so that your group will be unique. If you were all members of the same group in the Lottery or Waiting List, enter your Lottery/Waiting List group password here. If you are creating a new group, enter your new group password. If you have forgotten your Lottery/Waiting List password, you can create a new password, but please make sure that each person enters the same password.

APARTMENT PREFERENCES

Rank the type(s) of apartments in which you would be willing to live in order of preference. We will only assign you if one of the apartments you request becomes available. You do not need to rank all choices. Please do not rank the same apartment more than once.

In the choice lists, the abbreviation "BR" means "Bedroom."

Please note that there are both 2-bedroom/1-bath and 2-bedroom/2-bath apartments. You may not specify the number of bathrooms you prefer. You will be assigned to whichever is available at the time of assignment.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By submitting this housing application, I acknowledge that I have read the application information regarding Off-Campus Housing for Graduate Students, that I meet the eligibility requirements therein, and that I agree to comply with all the applicable terms and conditions.

I will be notified of my assignment by email (unless I have made other arrangements with Community Housing). Once assigned, I must accept my assignment and sign my Residence Agreement by the deadline listed in my offer email and in the Calendar at http://www.stanford.edu/dept/hds/chs/offcampusapts/calendar.html (usually Tuesday of the next week).

If I refuse an assignment or fail to respond to my assignment by the deadline, I will be charged a $50 refusal fee. If I fail to respond to my assignment by the deadline, I will be charged a $100 refusal fee.

If I accept and then refuse an assignment before signing my Residence Agreement or if I fail to sign my Residence Agreement by the deadline, I will be charged a $100 administrative fee.

Once I sign my Residence Agreement, I am under contract. If I subsequently cancel the assignment, I am charged a $400 administrative fee plus I will be responsible for the rent on the apartment/space until it is occupied by another eligible student.

Anytime I refuse an assignment or fail to sign my Residence Agreement by the deadline, my assignment is cancelled, my name is removed from further consideration for assignment.
